Bringing Micronesian Youth Together
The annual Micronesian Youth Summit will bring the Micronesian youth together and provide a platform for their voices to be heard. It will feature amazing speakers and artists, but the event itself rests on three pillars essential to navigating success:
1. Getting a Sense of Who They Are (History, Geography, and Cultural Values),
2. Break Out Sessions (College Readiness, Career Readiness, and Community Readiness), and
3. Tomorrow-Solidarity (Getting a Sense of what tomorrow looks like for them).
Students will be able to attend workshops and engage with panelists. The event will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 8:00 AM ~ 3:00 PM at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom. This will be an opportunity for our Micronesian youths to explore their strengths, potentials, and futures. Just as important, it will allow us to talk about our history and culture. Our program is geared towards middle and high school aged students, yet all are welcome to participate!
This is your chance to be a part of the first ever Micronesian Youth Summit on Oʻahu! This summit will play a part in making a difference for our youth to become model citizens and future leaders utilizing their cultural strengths woven with contemporary knowledge! Your financial support will help pay for the costs of hosting the summit. Venue, food, fliers, leis, t-shirts, gifts for prizes, transportation, as well as other materials are needed. We need your support to help pay for these items.
Our goal is to raise funds within 4 weeks. Your support is deeply appreciated given this short time. We appreciate any amount, but for each donor that gives $20 or more, you will get one WAO tshirt at the event (1 tshirt per person), while supplies last. If you do an online donation, please make sure your name on the online donation matches your ID.
